Project Overview

Tasked with evaluating the usability of CAE Maestro Embody, I conducted comprehensive user testing to identify pain points and provided actionable recommendations, leading to a 30% improvement in user satisfaction.

Problem Statement

• To understand any pain points the students or instructors may feel when using the product.

• To assess the usability and user experience of the product prior to launch.

Hypotheses

• Users are able to successfully complete the simulation with the amount of information provided to them.

• Users find it easy to interact with in-scene 3D elements.

The process

Preparation : We established clear objectives for the usability evaluation, I developed templates for participant invitations and recruitment emails, and crafted a comprehensive moderator script to guide the testing sessions.

Participant Recruitment : To ensure participants had relevant experience, we selected individuals who had completed at least two years of nursing education and possessed prior experience in postoperative patient care. 

Testing :  Through usability testing with 5 participants, I identified key pain points, such as mental model mismatch and users finding it difficult to find doctor's orders.

Analysis and Reporting : Analyzed user feedback to prioritize issues and proposed design changes, including moving users from one part of the simulation to another and persisting notification for orders until dismissed.

Outcome

• Discovered fundamental product issues that prompted the reassessment of product strategy and creation of new features.

• Guided the team in alleviating user's most pressing concerns by prioritizing them before the launch.
